dreadful.
family lunch tmr.
the toxic aunties.
she's always the one who decides which restaurant we shld go.
damn it, what happened to democracy?
let me freaking vote!
and she'll always say,
"cos ah kong likes to eat dim sum."
hello?
dim sum?
that's like my dad's and my area of expertise.
and east ocean wins hands down.
totally.
compared to that tong le restaurant.
so little variety.
plus.
my grandpa ALWAYS says,
"eh. east ocean dim sum is nicer.",
after we finish lunch.
altho it's quite embarrassing when he says it extremely loudly, in front of the staff at tong le.
-_-"
so it's like.
does she suggest it cos my grandpa loves dim sum?
or does she insist that we go there just cos she herself wants to eat there?
isnt it clear?
and.
i bet u my life,
that she'll comment,
"oh. u're v weird hor, like to eat things that we don't eat."
and given my mood these days.
i might just BURN and spat fire into her face tmr.
it's not that i dont respect the elders.
well.
i've always believed that,
rank is what you wear, and respect is what you earn.
if you want others to respect you,
you've got to earn it.
it doesnt come unconditionally just because you're older.
tho, given that in our society,
all of us have been brought up to respect the elders,
i DO respect my aunties.
it's just that it's limited.
in fact,
ive realised that i respect other non-related aunties more than them.
but then, it cant be measured since our blood ties confound with this.
i mean, you hang ard with them more often.
you see their ugly sides more often.
heck, more like ALL THE FREAKING TIME.
toxic relatives.
i cant find a better term to describe them.
it's like what a speaker once said in his conference.
"in the bad times.
in times of illness and diseases,
it's always good to have friends and relatives to help you face it,
and to help you pull through them.
but if you have toxic relatives,
i think you'll die a faster death."
although.
sigh.
my aunties, they've been through quite a bit.
and their relationship w their children sucks.
i can imagine how they'll feel.
all that hurt, it's as if their children stabbed them,
over and over again.
so during this hols,
ive been the busybody.
trying to help them see each other's viewpoints.
because ive been thru the teenage phase.
and because.. i dont want my cousins to regret.
for every day that we get to spend w our parents must be treasured.
so.
oh well. im rambling nonsense.
but then, u see.
tho ive been helping them,
they'll still piss me off.
so i'd rather not meet them tmr.
least i get pissed off, and take sides w my cousins.
no good no good.
plus.
i was trying to decide just now.
ive got a quiz on mon, and i havent started studying.
so i was like,
good food vs studying for stupid mod: good food wins! totally!
but. bad food vs studying.
i think... i'd rather choose studying.
moreover, studying has an advantage.
no dealing w poisonous aunties.
so now, i just have to figure out a way to tell my mom.
this sucks.
cos if i dont go, my dad might not go,
cos he hates toxic aunties too.
then she'll kill me. urghs.
see!
it's only a lunch.
and im damn agitated over it even before it begins.
