i was reading the papers yesterday and i came across an interesting article that i wanted to share.
it's a psychology experiment in which researchers left 240 wallets on the streets of Edinburgh, UK, to see how many were returned.
the variable is the contents of the wallets.
none of them contained money.
but some wallets contained one of the 4 photographs:
1. baby photo
2. photo of a cute puppy
3. family photo
4. portrait of an elderly couple
some of the wallets contained either a card suggesting that the owner had recently made a charity donation,
and the rest contained no additional items.
results:
-42% of all the wallets were posted back.
-88%: wallets containing a photo of a baby
-53%: wallets containing a photo of a cute puppy
-20%: wallets containing charity cards
- 15%: control sample, i.e. wallets that contained no additional items.
conclusion of the day?
u need a photo of a cute baby in ur wallet NOW.
esp if u're the type that always loses ur wallet,
