blessed *

zoo day 3/6/08 turned out to be a great trip!
we had to wear jeans to the zoo,
cos we were attacked mercilessly by those dumbassed mozzies at the zoo previously.
rowls.
so i was expecting to perspire profusely and die of dehydration/heat stroke.

But the weather was nice and cool~~

so i was telling fling that i feel so blessed.
and we didnt really get attacked by mozzies.
ok, i cheated. i did apply mozzie repellant on my arms.
jo-ann told me to get repellants that have DEET in their ingredients list,
because it's really effective in warding off mozzies.

new fact of the day!
haha. ok, fling did get stung by mozzie.
on her forehead. keke. cute.

ohh! and we witnessed kidnapping at the zoo that day!
poor bruce. ok there's this baboon, which was named bruce by us,
because his face is reddish, with black marks all over,
as if he has bruises all over his face.
so i was like, let's name him bruised.
HEY! bruce! sounds the same,
but i'll always mean "bruised" when i say "bruce".

ok yes, i know i've this weird tendency to nickname everyone.
haha!

anw, he was like all lonely that day.
and we were like, how come he's so isolated!?
then after a while, he was carrying an infant baboon.
and he was very tensed, frantically foraging for food on the ground.
and giving threatening signals to those near him.
and we were like WHY!?

then we realised, he kidnapped the baby
=(( poor thing!
and then the zookeeper came, and i was like WHY!?
what's happening?? is that his baby??
he kidnapped it?? he's so nervous and tensed now!

then the zookeeper was like, no he doesnt have any babies.
and.. have you seen males killing infants before?
and i was like WHAT!?!?!? o.0!!
then after that he went "nah, i dont think he'll kill the baby.
he just wants it for himself."
then i went .......
the zookeeper tried to kill the kan jiong spider, aka me, with the suspense can!

anw, eventually the real parents got the infant back.
and poor bruce was like attacked by the rest of the community.
and the thing is, when he had the baby, he wasn't attacked.
and fling and i were very puzzled,
wondering why didnt the father of the baby do anything??
at least the mother was baring her teeth at bruce.

then i was thinking,
hmm maybe they know that if they did anything,
it might put the baby in danger.
which i think is true...
because it was only after the baby was back in the mother's arms,
when the rest of the baboons threatened/tried to attack bruce.

you know, they never fail to amaze me.
im learning a lot at the zoo =)

AND. TMD.
i HATE it when i hear visitors saying
"omg they're so ugly!?"
"yeew look at their butts, so disgusting!!!"

seriously, if they turn you off,
why dont you just get the hell out of this place and go somewhere else.
dont you have enough common sense in that puny brain of yours,
to realise that such enormous swellings of the females,
are actually extremely painful to the females?

you see, on the days before and after the females ovulate,
their bums swell.
it attracts the males.
it's how they reproduce.
it's just like how it works in humans.
we suffer inconvenience and pain because of this as well,
so i thought that as humans,
and especially, as females,
you would empathize with these poor little baboons.
it hurts when it swells like that.
it's more tender, and they sit on rough edges of rocks,
and on coarse sand.

cant you imagine how painful that is?
and in the wild, they have to squeeze past pricky and sharp bushes to forage for food.
doesnt that image in your brain induces sympathy for them?

yet, ive noticed that usually,
it's the females that keep saying
"omg they're so gross! im traumatised!!"

man, when they do that,
i wanna go up to them and slap them.
yes. i realised im violent, and overly emotional.

but dont you see?
how painful it is?
and it's nature's work.
it's how the baboons attract each other.
him, by her swellings.
her, by his red heart-shaped bum.
in their eyes, their bums are perfect.
so dont you dare criticize how they look.
for all you know, karma might get you,
and we'll see you as a baboon in your next life.

ok wait. i did title this as "blessed"
shouldnt end this so erm. negatively.
haha. but i just had to rant!
i've heard too many comments like these.

i didnt fail human motivation.
lol~ but surprisingly,
i did better for clinical than for evo psych.
hmm. oh well. but i did ok.
